About Guy Andrews

Guy is the Executive Director of Exercise ETC. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through NSCA as well as a Senior Fitness Specialist and a Performance Enhancement Specialist, both through NASM. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL and holds multiple fitness certifications. A 35 year fitness industry veteran, Guy has worked with many population groups, but specializes in the older adult population. He has worked with seniors in a variety of environments including adult congregate living cailities, hospital-based wellness centers, municipal and community centers and major health clubs. He currently teaches Brains & Balance Past 60™ programs for the City of Wilton Manors, FL and has conducted memory management programs to the residents at the Edgewater Assisted Living Community in Boca Raton, FL.

This class explores the relationship between exercise and cognition and delves into the effect of lifestyle, diet and nutrition on the older brain.

Objectives:

1. Define “neuroplasticity”

2. List reasons why cognition slows for some seniors

3. Explain the 5 elements of cognition
